Princeton Black Student Alumni | Branding + Event Design

Princeton University’s Black Alumni Conference is an event dedicated to celebrating the contributions and achievements of Black alumni. The conference includes thought-provoking discussions, notable speakers, and a variety of social activities, aimed at fostering connections among alumni, faculty, and students.

Goals

The aim was to create a compelling and inclusive brand identity for the 2019 conference that would resonate with all attendees and highlight the significance of Black alumni’s contributions to the university and society.

Design Process

The process began with a discovery phase involving focus groups and surveys. Two visual identity options were developed and refined based on feedback from the Office of Alumni Affairs and the conference steering committee. The final design elements were delivered well ahead of the event.

Challenges

The main challenge was creating a brand that was both inclusive and versatile, capable of being used across various digital and print mediums.

Impact

The new brand was a resounding success, enhancing the conference’s appeal and fostering a stronger sense of community among attendees.
